I haven't updated my drivers in a long time and haven't formatted in a long time, so I'm sure I have old driver files from a long time ago hiding and lingering around. Could I use DDU to delete ALL driver-related files dating back to the first installation before installing the most recent Nvidia drivers? Perhaps even freeing up some storage space? I don't want to damage my present Windows installation in any way.

I've never used DDU before and was wondering if I could use it for this purpose.

Thanks
Hi,
Technically , it can be use for that purpose.
But please know there is always a minimal risk associated with DDU as it play with files and registry.
I would suggest to update the driver as you would normally do and use DDU only if you encounter any issues.

Using ddu to simply reinstall display drivers to try and fix a black screen issue I've been having.

For old drivers (and not just graphics) which are in the packages you must use Driver Store Explorer (RAPR)

Explanation here (in French sorry) but the browser can translate

There is NO risk with old packages

- This is very useful if you are switching from an AMD card to NVIDIA or vice versa
- If you want to free up space on the hard drive or SSD
- This prevents old drivers from being reinstalled after uninstalling drivers

(But you have to check the box in DDU so that Microsoft does not install its own drivers)
